Rustic, quaint and quintessentially kiwi.
A year ago I wrote a story for Adventure Magazine about the allure of the back country huts that inhabit the high alpine landscape of NZ.
One year on and the virtually closed borders of New Zealand have seen a significant uplift in interest around outdoor recreation. From the Department of Conservation huts that dot the length and breadth of the country to the Great Walks of NZ people are getting outdoors in their own backyard like never before.
The Snow Farm huts of the Pisa Range are no exception and are already booked solid for the winter.
The good news is that a new 36 bed hut is being built this coming summer AND these huts are available all year round (the back country Mtn biking around the Pisa Range is worth the effort for the views alone).
If you’re contemplating a “soft” adventure over the course of the next year, this has to be some of the best value for $$ you can get and the accessibility brings that adventure closer and easier than you may think.
